Commission Meetings

In Washington State, Port Districts are municipal corporations created to foster industrial and economic development within their geographic area. The Port of Sunnyside, like most Washington Ports, is governed by a locally elected three member Commission. The Commission sets policy and determines the general direction of the Port. In the Port of Sunnyside’s case, the main focus has been providing environmentally friendly industrial wastewater treatment for the local food processing and manufacturing industry.

Commissioners are elected to staggered six year terms, so that every two years one of the three Commissioners is up for election. The Port of Sunnyside has enjoyed some longevity with its Commissioners as one can see by the chart below that shows the length of each commissioner’s service. Generally the Commission meets twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Monday at 5:15 p.m. For a complete schedule please click on the appropriate year below.
